sis, sometimes the issues are so personal -- even when they're only peripherally so -- that we get wrapped up in them and end up sniping at people who don't necessarily deserve it. Better we aim our nasty sides at the people who are paid to take guff from us -- the politicians on both sides of the aisle, and the Mainstream Media.

And, of course, you're right about T being a friend. We've had a long history of friendly insult and good-natured bickering, which occasionally pops up in the regular debates. Sadly, because there is no face-time on the internet, nobody can see the glee on our faces when we toss barbs about like badminton birdies.

(aside) Hey, Tannish... I think I saw you on the Late Late Show with Craig Ferguson last night. You & the Roundheads sounded pretty good for a bunch of geezers... ;-)

It's nice to see some open "discussion" taking place. Thank you, leucanthemum, for pointing out that you two must respect each other in order to get so frustrated with each other. I suspect there must be some fondness there also- Let's all try to remember we are all only human, doing the best we can each day and keep our anger in check so we can hear each other. Sorry about sounding so trite.

granny, I run two sites just like Tannish does. The one T linked you to is the one running counterpart to T's here -- I don't normally run long blogs there, it's my ideas work sheet for my longer weeklies for a small-town paper. But you're right. I don't always put a lot of my own opinions up, at CD, when I can find an interesting statement by somebody whose writing I want my friends to catch. When I DO post my own viewpoints, they are ones I have come to after much debate with friends and family. I don't "regurgitate", except when I see some tripe I can't swallow. But thanks for the criticism. If and when I have time to do more work on the one site, I will consider deeper analysis.

As to respect, he's come dangerously close to losing mine over the issue of religious tolerance... but because we respect each other, he frustrates me and I frustrate him. Or, isn't that how it works in your neighborhood?

Thanks, Granny.

You're right, I'm sure we're both frustrated with each other.

I don't think she respects you now.

I can't tell what kind of person she is from her site, she regurgitates too many right wing talking points without taking the pieces apart and examining them.

Your perssonal communications with her must be very frustrating if there is no concensus about which things are true and false.
