Who is Ron Paul?

That’s exactly what I asked myself as I clicked the link at Digg.com. The resulting Wall Street Journal article highlights the emerging netroots efforts surrounding the Republican dark horse Presidential candidate. Not having paid much attention to the Re-thug-lican party, I hadn’t heard of him.

Further along the page of hot Diggs is another mention of Ron Paul, this one from a blogger concerned about America’s emerging governance trend. Here I find an article by the man himself, snipped for rapid propagation. I’ll highlight what caught my fancy:

Our love for liberty above all has been so diminished that we tolerate intrusions into our privacy that would have been abhorred just a few years ago. We tolerate inconveniences and infringements upon our liberties in a manner that reflects poorly on our great national character of rugged individualism. American history, at least in part, is a history of people who don’t like being told what to do. Yet we are increasingly empowering the federal government and its agents to run our lives.

Terror, fear, and crises like 9-11 are used to achieve complacency and obedience, especially when citizens are deluded into believing they are still a free people. The loss of liberty, we are assured, will be minimal, short-lived, and necessary. Many citizens believe that once the war on terror is over, restrictions on their liberties will be reversed. But this war is undeclared and open-ended, with no precise enemy and no expressly stated final goal. Terrorism will never be eradicated completely; does this mean future presidents will assert extraordinary war powers indefinitely?

Is this man the John Galt of our era? Probably not. But he’s got my attention.

I think Ron Paul is absolutely correct! I have been watching Ron Paul since May and he is consistent and has a great voting record for standing up for our constitution. Alot of laws are on the books that are illegal and take away rights of ordinary citizens. These laws should be studied in order to find the threats against civil liberties. Then and only then can we have a free society and move towards the same track that our founding fathers stood for. Over the past 30 years people have lived beyond their means and created a debt that could harm the future generations and Ron Paul is fighting to put an end to big government through abolishing the Federal Reserve which would mean that congress would actually print the money instead of paying for a private corporation which is essentially loaning us the money and we pay it back in the National Debt by future generations servitude. The National Debt is currently $200,000 per person in America. The sad part is no person can pay off the debt individually because you signed up to be a citizen when your mother by signing the Birth Certifate informed the Dept. of Health. This would make you a citizen of the land much like cargo that enters this country also receives a birth certificate. I hope that everyone who wants to be free from government you need to vote for someone that can get us out of debt so we are no longer treated as property and we can again put the politicians into servitude. The only way a president can get our country out of debt is to limit the size and scope that the federal government’s laws can reach. Think about all of the restrictions that are currently regulated by the Federal Government. You have the Department of Defense, The Department of Health, The Department of Homeland Security, The Department of Education. etc…. Ron Paul believes that states will do it better and more efficient. This will also help states distinquise themselves from other states and be more competitive which will help the economy boom and helps education advance! Ron Paul would work very hard and he ultimately involves himself with free thinkers and
